Responsibilities

Direct Support Professional provides support and assistance to adolescents and adults with disabilities in areas of daily living, community involvement, and recreational activities. Serve as a positive role model for socially acceptable behavior. Assist with household duties and meal preparation. Some positions require staff to pass medications.

 

30 hours a week Friday- Sunday

Hours would begin on Friday at 12pm and includes a sleep over shift Friday night. This sleep over shift means that you sleep from 11pm to 7am at the house in the house staff office/bedroom. Saturday hours are 7am until 7pm. Sunday hours are 8am until 7pm. This is a 30 hour weekend shift.

Qualifications

A clean valid NYS drivers’ license. Some positions require staff to use their own vehicle for work purposes. High School Diploma or GED required; Associates in Human Services preferred. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in other human service area or in a health care field most helpful. Will be required to successfully complete the OPWDD fingerprinting clearance; have good verbal & written skills; ability to attend training and pass the test to become med. certified, if required.

 

All positions at Toomey Residential and Community Services are required to attend Virtus training within 60 days of hire and to successfully clear the Virtus background check. This position also requires an acceptable State child abuse clearance background check.
