Primary duties are to facilitate and support children in recreational and daily activities.  Plan and coordinate individual recreation plans for each child in the Community Residence.  Plans are strength-based and focus on building each child’s skill set.  The focus of recreation is on building skills in the areas of: socialization, problem solving, and self-regulation.  Activities are carefully chosen with thought to the child’s interest and the family’s world-view.  Activities encourage a sense of pride and self-worth in each child.


  1. Coordinate, implement and actively participate in physical, social, and cultural activities for children on an ongoing basis.


  1. Assist with individual service plans through direct involvement with the children, staff, supervisor, and families.


  1. Assist individuals in participating in daily and weekly activities such as shopping, exercising, hobbies, volunteering, activities of daily living, and other desired activities as defined by the individual.


  1. Assist in maintaining house operations including meal planning and preparation.


  1. Provide transportation to activities and outings for individuals receiving services.


  1. Promote and ensure a safe and positive environment for individuals receiving services to include, identifying risk and safety issues, and completing reporting requirements to appropriate person(s).


  1. Through positive role modeling, assist the children in enhancing personal responsibilities and self development and also daily living and coping skills.


  1. Initiate and complete necessary paperwork in a timely manner.


  1. Maintain guidelines and policies as established by the funding sources and Toomey Residential and Community Services.


  1. Represent the agency in a positive and professional manner.



Bachelor's degree with up to three years of related experience.
