Overview

Catholic Charities of Onondaga County is a human services agency, dedicated to caring for those in need while promoting human development, collaboration, and the elimination of poverty and injustice.  Catholic Charities believes that all people have infinite value and are worthy of dignity and respect, and above all, is committed to creating hope and transforming lives.

 

This is a full time, 35 hr/week Monday - Friday position. Pre-K positions offer flexibility of 10 month or 12 month. Paid time off for school breaks with additional PTO. This position has the possibility of part-time.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide supervision and support to teaching staff in day to day operations and implementation of Preschool curriculum.
  2. Create and coordinate program activities and/or resources.
  3. Network within Catholic Charities and with outside service providers to make appropriate referrals to service the needs of program participants. Promote the program objectives.
  4. Perform classroom assessments and monitoring as appropriate and required by funding sources.
  5. Ensure that teaching staff maintain and update all records in a timely manner to meet guidelines of funding sources.
  6. Direct and supervise teaching staff and volunteers and provide appropriate guidelines.
  7. Assist in recruiting, training and evaluating assigned program staff.
  8. Maintain accountability for all participants, assigned staff, and volunteers while in program.
  9. Act as professional role model for staff and participants.
  10. Maintain guidelines established by the funding sources and Catholic Charities policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Required at Entry: NYS Teaching Certification in Early Childhood Education, (birth to 2nd, or N to 6th), with up to 3 years expereince. Experience. Experience in an urban academic setting and prior supervisory expereince preferred.

 

Licenses/Certificate/Clearances: Valid N.Y.S. Drivers License; Registered and insured vehicle, N.Y.S. Child Abuse Registry clearance, Background checks for Criminal History.

 

Skills/Abilities: Basic engagement skills; Oral and written communication skills; Problem solving skills; Supervisory skills.

 

Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands: Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings at client’s homes and/or community facilities which may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals, Manual dexterity sufficient to work with children in a challenging and active environment.

 

Required Trainings: VIRTUS, Mandated reporter, Corporate Compliance, Core Updates, 1st Aid/CPR
