Overview

This is a Full Time position; 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday.

 

The Refugee Resettlement Employment Specialist works with refugee clients to prepare them for employment, including teaching pre-employment classes and resume preparation. Helps develop local jobs, places clients in jobs, and provides support. Must be able to maintain accurate case notes and be comfortable with computer data entry.

Responsibilities

Fulfill objectives for the Refugee Social Services Program (RSSP) grant. Assist refugee job seekers in finding and maintain employment through case management to include recruitment, placement, retention, and job advancement and training of eligible participants.

  1. Provide ongoing supports to address barriers to employment throughout the program period.
  2. Maintain weekly contact with active participants.
  3. Assess and evaluate the psycho-social factors contributing to client’s situation to determine capabilities.
  4. Provide a needs assessment and identify resources to promote participants’ interpersonal insight and professional development correlation.
  5. Monitor clients’ progress. Address barriers to employment as necessary.
  6. Refer clients to community resources and other organizations.
  7. Network with community service providers.
  8. Complete all necessary reporting forms for government agencies and funding sources.
  9. Maintain appropriate communication with job developers and other funding sources.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services related field.  Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with vulnerable individuals. Or a combination of education and relevant experience.

 

Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings at client’s homes and/or community facilities which may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals, Manual dexterity sufficient to work with children/adults in a challenging and active environment.
