This is a Full Time position, 40 hours per week; Sunday 8a-10p, Monday 2p-10p, Tuesday 2p-10p and Wednesday 12p-10p

 

Responsibilities

Basic Function/Purpose:  The Program Supervisor ensures the efficient operation of residential or program activities, and provides support and supervision to Direct Support Professionals in their goals to empower and assist individuals with developmental disabilities to lead self-directed lives, and participate fully in the community.

 

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

 

  1. Ensure the efficient operation of a residence, its staff and individuals receiving services to achieve daily goals and objectives.
  2. Assist in the development of day, residential and behavioral habilitation plans.  Insure that staff are informed of and are following care plans.
  3. Provide mentoring, and model expected behaviors when assisting individuals in participating in daily and weekly activities such as shopping, exercising, hobbies, volunteering, activities of daily living, and other desired activities as defined by the individual.
  4. Participate in the hiring of direct support professionals, their orientation, training, and evaluation process as necessary. 
  5. Monitor medication inventory policies; administer basic first aid, and medication as prescribed pursuant to agency policies.   
  6. Schedule and supervise direct support professionals in the absence of the program coordinator.  
  7. Serve as a positive liaison to schools, parents, and others who have a relationship to those served.   
  8. Provide transportation to activities and outings for individuals receiving services.
  9. Promote and ensure a safe and positive environment for individuals receiving services to include identifying risk and safety issues, and completing reporting requirements to appropriate person(s).
  10. Initiate and complete required paperwork in a timely manner.
  11. Adhere to the philosophy of Toomey Residential and practice behaviors consistent with the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) Core Competencies, which include: Putting Individuals First; Building and Maintaining Positive Relationships; Demonstrating Professionalism; Supporting Good Health; Safety; Supporting the individual to live in the home of their choice, and being active and productive in their community.
  12. Maintain guidelines and policies as established by the funding sources and Toomey Residential and Community Services. 
  13. Represent the agency in a positive and professional manner.

 

 

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Required at Entry: High School Diploma or GED required with 1-3 years relevant experience. Associates or bachelor degree preferred. Previous supervisory experience preferred.

 

Licenses/Certificate/Clearances: A valid NYS driver’s license with registered and insured vehicle; Must be able to use personal vehicle for work purposes; NYS Central Registry Clearance, NYS Justice Center Fingerprinting and background check.

 

Skills/Abilities: Customer service, interpersonal, creative problem solving, communication and negotiation skills, the ability to become certified to dispense medication according to prescribed guidelines, computer proficiency and creative problem solving ability. 

 

Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands: Must possess mobility sufficient to drive to, and participate in, meetings at client’s homes and/or community facilities which may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals; Manual dexterity sufficient to work with children/adults in a challenging and active environment. Must have the ability to lift up to 50lbs.
