    This is a part time position; evenings and weekends


    Skill Builders work closely with families and youth to identify and overcome behavioral challenges that have inhibited student success.   

    1. Work one-to-one or in small groups with children/youth 5-18 years of age with emotional/behavioral challenges.
    2. In conjunction with the youth, family, and program staff, skill-building mentors design and provide activities that incorporate skills needed to live successfully in their homes and communities. 
    3. Instruct in skills specific to each child, such as anger-management or anxiety reduction techniques, friendship skills, or relating to authority figures. 
    4. Assist in creating lasting community connections of interest and accessible to the child and family. 
    5. Report progress regularly to the program manager.
    6. Report any emergencies or significant incidents to program manager.
    7. Maintain accountability for participants assigned to your care.
    8. Maintain guidelines established by the funding sources and Catholic Charities policies and procedures.


    Associate’s Degree with three (3) years relevant experience required. Training in therapeutic crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and positive behavioral interventions and supports strongly preferred.Bachelor’s Degree/Master's degree in psychology, human services, education, or social work preferred. 


    Basic engagement skills; Oral and written communication skills; Problem solving skills; Ability to address serious behaviors in children/adolescents;   Flexibility to work afternoon, evenings and weekends.
