    Responsibilities

    The Culinary Instructor will provide hands on and lecture instruction to students in culinary principles, as established by the CASS curriculum. Prepare daily lesson plans in conjunction with established curriculum. Assist in the preparation of materials and/or food needed for conferences, presentations, special projects, on/off-site catering and deli/commissary accounts. Assist in set up (mise en place) and preparation of food items as specified by the established curriculum for class activities ,catering events and educational demonstrations. Delivery and set up for on/off site catering. Exercise cost control and purchasing techniques. Work with Program Manager/Culinary Coordinator to ensure that the necessary funding paperwork (statistical information, contracts, invoices, etc.) are completed and recorded properly. Adhere to and maintain standards following health and safety codes and regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage. Consistently and accurately utilize prep sheets, cleanliness lists, daily temperature logs and station checklists. Ensure that food items and supplies are properly tracked, and stored in a safe, organized, and hazard-free environment upon arrival. Performs other duties as assigned by the program manager. Regularly attend staff meetings. Maintain guidelines established by the funding sources and Catholic Charities policies and procedures.

    Qualifications

    An Associate degree in Culinary Arts with (2) years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Experience instructing in an educational setting preferred. Experience working with a diverse population preferred.  Knowledge of local food service employers helpful. Valid NYS DL and NYS Child Abuse Registry clearance.
