We serve children and adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, children experiencing mental health challenges, children who cannot remain at home and require foster care placement and children who are Unaccompanied Refugee Minors who come to the United States from around the world and whose lives have been torn apart due to conflict and oppression.
The Program Coordinator will insure the efficient operation of the program, its staff and individuals receiving services to achieve daily goals and objectives. Work with individuals to develop goals, as well as residential and behavioral habilitation plans. Observe and assess progress of individuals. Insure that individual goals are met and/or modified as needed. Complete appropriate fiscal and program records in timely manner. Prepare and maintain all necessary paperwork including payroll and incident reports. Hire, provide orientation, train, supervise, evaluate and coach all residential and program staff. Participate as a team trainer for agency trainings as required. Communicate and collaborate with other service providers and staff. Monitor and manage personal allowance funds for individuals receiving services as well as house hold accounts. Monitor medication inventory; administer basic first aid, and medication as prescribed pursuant to agency policies. Assume on call responsibility as assigned. Adhere to the philosophy of Toomey Residential and practice behaviors consistent with the seven principles of the Sanctuary Model of Trauma Informed Care which include a commitment to nonviolence, emotional Intelligence, social learning, open communication, democracy, social responsibility and growth and change. Participate in and utilize Sanctuary Model tools such as community meetings, red flag reviews, and safety plans. Practice and ensure the correct utilization of the S.E.L.F. (Safety, Emotions, Loss and Future) framework in daily interactions with residents, coworkers and other ABH staff. Encourage and hold staff accountable in their utilization of the Sanctuary Model of Trauma Informed Care. Maintain guidelines and policies as established by the funding sources and Toomey Residential and Community Services.
This program works with children and teenagers ages 7-14 with mental health diagnosis.
Associates degree and two to five years of relevant experience required. Bachelor degree and experience working with youth in foster care placement or group home settings preferred. Previous supervisory experience preferred. A valid NYS driver’s license and reliable transportation; registered and insured vehicle. Must be able to use personal vehicle for work purposes. NYS Central Registry Clearance, NYS Justice Center Fingerprinting and background check.
