The Building Trades Instructor will provide individualized introductory level instructions for the building maintenance and carpentry trade workforce industry. They will be competent and capable of performing and providing both theory and hands-on introductory level training for the following building related areas: Carpentry, Basic Plumbing, Basic Electrical, Drywall Repair, Painting, Flooring, Custodial Services, Trade specific safety skills, and Landscaping/snow removal services. Prepare lesson plans, determines instructional methods, administers and grades tests in theory and practice of a trade. Create and maintain records of students' attendance, progress, attitude and accomplishments. Instruct students in the use of tools of the trade, the proper care and use of materials, safety precautions, assist with recruitment and job placement of graduates.
Education and/or Experienced Required at Entry: High School Diploma, GED Certficiation or requivalent required. Five to ten years experience in residential and/or multifamily construction and renovations field. Must have the ability to give clear instructions. Experience in Microsoft applications is preferred. Prior teaching experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of instructional methodology appicable to the trades and program curriculum.
