This is a part time position with a payrate of $20 per hour and the flexibility to work afternoons, evenings and weekends!

Skill Builders work closely with families and youth to restore, rehabilitate and support a child’s developmentally appropriate functioning.

• Work one-to-one or in small groups with children/youth 5- 21 years of age with emotional/behavioral challenges and/or a mental health diagnosis.
• In conjunction with the youth, family, and program staff, skill-building mentors design and provide activities that incorporate skills needed to live successfully in their homes and communities. 
• Instruct in skills specific to each child, including but not limited to social and interpersonal skills, daily living skills, and community integration. 
• Assist in cresting lasting community connections of interest that are accessible to the child and family.
• Responsible for completing progress notes, assessments and treatment plans in accordance with agency and funding established time frames. 
• Report progress regularly to the program coordinator and participate in regular case review and clinical supervision.

Minimum high school diploma with three years’ experience in children’s mental health, addiction and/or foster care; or Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, social work, or related human services required. Training in therapeutic crisis intervention, conflict resolution, trauma informed care and positive behavioral interventions and supports beneficial. Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings at client’s homes and/or community facilities which may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals, Manual dexterity sufficient to work with children in a challenging and active environment.

Skills/Abilities: Ability and engagement skills needed to address serious behaviors in children/adolescents; and to demonstrate and adhere to Agency’s Core Behaviors listed below:

• Initiative: Initiates role-appropriate actions without a lot of guidance; A self-starter who is consistently productive without being told and/or reminded what to do.

Licenses/Certificate/Clearances: Valid N.Y.S. Driver’s License and ability to meet insurance standards; Registered and insured vehicle, N.Y.S. Child Abuse Registry, DCJS Criminal History, Sex Offender Registry, Justice Center SEL clearance required.
