The Program Supervisor will ensure the efficient operation of residential or program activities, and provide support and supervision to Direct Support Professionals in their goals to empower and assist individuals with developmental disabilities to lead self-directed lives, and participate fully in the community. Assist in the development of day, residential, and behavioral habilitation plans. Ensure that staff are informed of and are following care plans. Provide mentoring and model expected behaviors when assisting individuals in participating in daily and weekly activities. Participate in hiring of direct Direct Support Professionals, their orientation, training, and evaluation process as necessary. Monitor medication inventory policies; administer basic first aid and medication as prescribed pursuant to agency policies. Provide transportation to activities and outings for individuals receiving services. Adhere to the philosophy of Toomey Residential and practice behaviors consistent with the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) Core Competencies, which include:
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm
Education and/or Experience Required at Entry: High school diploma or GED required with 1-3 years relevant experience. Associates or Bachelors degree preferred. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Licenses/Certificate/Clearances: A valid NYS driver's license with registered and insured vehicle. Must be able to use personal vehicle for work purposes. NYS Central Registry Clearance, NYS Justice Center Fingerprinting and background check.
Skills/Abilities: Customer service, interpersonal, creative problem solving, communication and negotiation skills, the ability to become certified to despense medication according to prescribed guidelines, computer proficiency and creative problem solving ability.
Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands: Must possess mobility sufficient to drive to, and participate in, meetings at client's homes and/or community facilities which may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals. Manual dexterity to work with children/adults in a challenging and active environment. Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Required Trainings: VIRTUS, Corporate Compliance, Defensive Driving, Mandated Reporting, trainings related to the NADSP Core Competencies, and all applicable OPWDD training requirements.
