The Youth Program Coordinator will recruit program participants for participation in career awareness activities, tutoring, socialization activities, health and financial literacy workshops, and other youth development activities. Students will be from refugee backgrounds.  


  1. Complete a making a connection plan with each youth to determine needs and interests.
  2. Complete assessment activities required by NYS.
  3. Directly implement activities with the assistance of paid and volunteer Youth Mentors.
  4. Directly instruct weekly educational workshops following a schedule of topics including financial literacy, healthy lifestyle choices, career preparation, college readiness, etc.
  5. Arrange guest speakers and field trips as appropriate.
  6. Maintain accurate statistical records of program participation including attendance and evaluation tools, maintenance of case notes for all participants, and entering points into the NYS BIN system.
  7. Recruit volunteer mentors and community partners to assist with workshops and classes.
  8. Regularly report program participants’ progress and concerns.
  9. Work collaboratively with Refugee Resettlement and Refugee Youth Program staff.
  10. Work as a team member in implementation of all youth programming at Northside CYO.
  11. Transport Clients in agency vehicle as needed and maintain a safe driving record.
  12. Follow all CCOC volunteer policy and NYS guidelines for youth mentors.


Education and or Experience Required at Entry:Bachelor’s degree plus 1-3 years of experience working with youth, teens, and individuals from diverse ethnic groups or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working with youth, teens, and individuals from diverse ethnic groups.


Licenses/Certificates/Clearances: Valid N.Y.S. Driver’s License, access to reliable transportation.


Skills/Abilities: Excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to work with a variety of ethnic groups, comfortable speaking in front of groups, creative problem solving and conflict resolution skills.


Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands: Mobility sufficient to drive and participate in meetings at client homes and/or community facilities which may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals, Manual dexterity sufficient to work with youth and adults in a challenging and active environment. 


Required Trainings: VIRTUS, Corporate Compliance, Defensive Driving, Core Update
