The Refugee Employment Specialist will provide ongoing supports to address barriers to employment throughout the refugee program. Maintain weekly contact with active participants. Assess and evaluate the psycho-social factors contributing to client’s situation to determine capabilities. Provide needs assessments and identify resources to promote participants’ interpersonal insight and professional development correlation. Monitor clients’ progress. Address barriers to employment as necessary. Refer clients to community resources and other organizations. Network with community service providers. Complete all necessary reporting forms for government agencies and funding sources. Maintain appropriate communication with job developers and other funding sources. Maintain guidelines established by the funding sources and Catholic Charities policies and procedures.
Full-time Monday - Friday regular business hours with some flexibility on weekends
Education and/or Experience Required at Entry: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services related field and 1 year of experience working with vulnerable individuals, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Licenses/Certificate/Clearances: Valid N.Y.S. Drivers License, registered and insured vehicle, and N.Y.S. Child Abuse Registry clearance.
Skills/Abilities: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands: Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings at client’s homes and/or community facilities which may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals. Manual dexterity sufficient to work with children/adults in a challenging and active environment.
Required Trainings: VIRTUS, Corporate Compliance, Core Updates.
