The Teacher Assistant will assist the UPK Teacher in planning and promoting the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of students. Support the teacher to ensure that program requirements are being carried out, including curriculum, monitoring, assessment, and reporting. Establish and maintain a safe healthy learning environment that ensures students are appropriately supervised at all times, including in the classroom, outdoor spaces, on field trips, and on the bus. Establish positive and productive relationships with families, including attending home visits where appropriate. Actively engage with students in all areas of program. Support social and emotional development. Provide positive guidance. Advance physical and intellectual experience. Actively differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
Two-year degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred. HS Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of six college credits, with at least one year experience working with children birth to age 5 in a classroom/day care setting. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
