The Pre-K Teacher will coordinate with the Preschool Program Manager, Pre-K Administrative Assistant, and Syracuse City School District (SCSD) staff in order to implement the school district’s developmental curriculums. Plan and implement one, 6 hour preschool class or two, 2.5 hour preschool classes each day. Collaborate with Program Manager and other staff members to ensure a well-run and purposeful program that uses ongoing assessment to drive curriculum to meet the needs of all children. Work with SCSD and collaborators to ensure that program requirements are being carried out, including curriculum, monitoring, assessment, and reporting. Establish and maintain a safe healthy learning environment, including in the classroom, outdoor spaces, on field trips, and on the bus. Assist in recruitment and maintenance of a full class list per contract with SCSD and when necessary, obtaining documentation for enrollment. Actively engage with students in all areas of program. Support social and emotional development. Provide positive guidance. Advance physical and intellectual experience. Actively differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students. Establish positive and productive relationships with families, including home visits where appropriate. Maintain guidelines established by the funding sources and agency policies and procedures.
This is a Full Time, Monday through Friday ten (10) month long position.
Education and/or Experience Required at Entry: Must possess New York State (NYS) Teaching Certification with one (1) year working with children and families. Early Childhood teaching experience preferred. NYS Teaching Certification, Early Childhood Education; Birth to 2nd preferred.
Licenses/Certifications/Clearances: Criminal history check, NYS registry clearance.
Skills and Abilities: Computer skills, good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Classroom management.
