The Direct Support Professional will serve as an advocate for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Assist with personal care needs, provide supervision, and act as a role model to clients who reside in a group home setting or out in the community. Assist clients in their day-to-day routines and teach them skills necessary to achieve their maximum potential as defined in their care plans. The Direct Support Professional will help in maintaining the household including, but not limited to, meal preparation, cooking, cleaning and shopping. Serve as a positive liaison between outside service providers, parents, and others who have a relationship with clients. Provide transportation for program needs/recreational activities. The Direct Support Professional is someone who enjoys creating and maintaining a meaningful environment to help others live their best possible life.
This is a residential program working with women with Intellectual and developmental disabilities
Schedule: Sunday - Wednesday 10pm-8am
OR: Wednesday 2pm-10pm, Thursday 2pm-10pm, Friday 12pm-10pm, Saturday 8am-10pm
Must be 21 year's old and have a valid NYS driver's license with 4 points or less. High School Diploma or GED required; Associates in Human Services preferred. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in another human service area or in a health care field OR Associates degree in Human Services or related field required. Will be required to successfully complete the OPWDD fingerprinting clearance.
