Responsibilities

The Case Manager will play a crucial role in supporting refugees by facilitating airport greetings and transportation, assisting with their successful relocation into apartments, and helping set up their new living spaces. They will provide linkage to supportive counseling and crisis intervention, conduct screening and assessments for necessary mental health services, and assist in making appointments and ensuring compliance with those appointments. Collaborating with mental health providers and school systems, the Case Manager will also offer referrals, collaboration, and linkages to community resources and organizations. It is their responsibility to maintain required documentation and up-to-date case files for each refugee, while meeting with their supervisor weekly for discussions on case progress, challenges, and to receive guidance and support.

 

Starting Pay For This Position Is: $21.00/ Hour

Qualifications

Education an/or experience required at entry:

 

  • A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with youth, individuals who speak English as a second language, refugees, and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

 

Licenses/Certificates/Clearances:

  • Valid N.Y.S. Driver's License.
  • N.Y.S. Child Abuse Registry clearance.

 

Skills/Abilities:

    • Proficiency in utilizing electronic database systems.
    • Strong skills in MS Outlook and MS Office.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.

 

Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Mobility sufficient for driving to client's homes and participating in meetings at community facilities that may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals.
  • Manual dexterity necessary to work with children and adults in a challenging and active environment.
