Responsibilities

The Maintenance Worker plays a pivotal role in overseeing facilities operations, maintenance, and work order management. Collaborating closely with the Facilities Manager, this role maintains accountability among staff, upholding a standard of professionalism aligned with Agency and funding source policies. Their duties encompass minor repairs, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, with a keen focus on efficient execution. Moreover, the Maintenance Technician provides guidance and instruction to facilities support staff, fostering a culture of safety and skill development. Property maintenance, such as painting, masonry, and remodeling, is undertaken as required. Timely updates on completed work orders are communicated to the Facilities Director, ensuring transparent reporting. Routine inspections, adherence to codes, and a commitment to safety are core responsibilities. The Maintenance Technician's dedication to maintaining a secure environment extends to promptly reporting any concerns to the Operations Coordinator. Additionally, they contribute to warehouse operations, serving as an integral part of the moving crew and driver when necessary, while also addressing in-home repairs for agency clients.

 

Starting Pay For This Position Is:$18.00/ Hour

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements for Entry:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A two-year degree, business degree, or completion of a relevant trade school program is preferred
  • Three (3) years of relevant work experience. Prior experience in property maintenance and repair is preferred.
  • Combination of education and experience will be considered.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of building maintenance and repair procedures.
  • Strong creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and social communication skills.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Licenses, Certificates, and Clearances:

  • A valid N.Y.S. Driver’s License.
  • State Central Registry Clearance.
  • Successful completion of a background check.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Mobility adequate for driving to and participating in meetings, which may not fully adhere to Federal accessibility standards for individuals with disabilities.
