Responsibilities

Basic Function/Purpose: Under the direction of the Program Manager, assist in the daily operation of the Skill
Building program and provide supervision to staff to achieve program objectives.

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities: Work one-to-one with children/youth 5-18 years of age with emotional/behavioral challenges.  Recommend activities that incorporate skill building and meet program objectives to enhance delivery of services. Develop and implement skill building training related to therapeutic crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and positive behavioral interventions. Provide administrative support for the Program Manager and help coordinate services with ACCESS CNY. Supervise and provide support to skill builders. Coordinate and monitor program staff schedules. Report any emergencies or significant incidents to Program Manager or Director. Maintain accountability for participants assigned to your care. Maintain guidelines established by the funding sources and Catholic Charities policies and procedures.

 

Starting Pay For This Position Is: $20.00/ Hour

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Required at Entry:

  • Bachelor’s Degree/Master's degree in psychology, human
    services, education, or social
  • with three (3) years relevant experience required or an equivalent combination of
    education and experience.
  • Experience includes training in therapeutic crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and
    positive behavioral interventions.
  • Supervisory experience strongly preferred.

 

Licenses/Certificate/Clearances:

  • Valid N.Y.S. Drivers License
  • Registered and insured vehicle,
  • N.Y.S. Child Abuse Registry clearance


Skills/Abilities:

  • Basic engagement skills; Oral and written communication skills;
  • Problem solving skills;
  • Ability to address serious behaviors in children/adolescents;
  • Flexibility to work afternoon, evenings and weekends.

 

Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings at client’s homes and/or community facilities which may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled
    individuals,
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to work with children in a challenging and active environment.
