Responsibilities

The Program Director holds a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation and achievement of desired outcomes for assigned programs. You will be responsible for assessing staffing levels, evaluating resource adequacy, and prioritizing the safety and security of clients and staff across multiple program sites. Collaborating with the Program Officer, you will identify emerging needs of current and potential consumers and conduct thorough research to enhance existing programs or develop new ones that cater to specific requirements. Managing program grants will be a key aspect of your role, encompassing tasks such as overseeing funding sources, soliciting and submitting applications, and ensuring compliance with reporting and audit requirements.

 

In addition to grant management, you will play an integral role in building and leading a competent program team. This will involve recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating program staff, while ensuring adherence to best practices. You will work closely with HR and the Program Officer to address any performance issues that may arise. Monitoring program compliance with funding source and organizational policies and procedures, including documentation, reporting, and auditing, will be essential to ensure that program goals are met. Collaborating with the Program Officer, you will contribute to the development of annual budgets, track ongoing expenditures, identify fiscal variances, and propose efficiencies to optimize program resources. Any unforeseen expenses or staffing changes will be communicated to the Program Officer for approval.

 

Furthermore, as a Program Director, you will:

 

  • Schedule regular one-on-one meetings for supervision and support.
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback, both positive and constructive.
  • Conduct annual evaluations to review accomplishments and set goals.
  • Encourage participation in professional development opportunities.
  • Lead by example and adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Foster a positive work environment through open communication and teamwork.
  • Create individualized development plans aligned with career goals.
  • Recognize and appreciate staff members' efforts and achievements.

Pay for this position is $65,000.00 per year

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Required at Entry:

  • A Bachelor's Degree, along with 5 to 8 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required for this position.
  • Supervisory and administrative experience is essential, and prior experience working with a specific population is preferred.
  • An equivalent combinaion of education and experience will be considered.

Licenses/Certificate/Clearances:

  • A valid N.Y.S. Driver's License is required for transportation purposes.
  • Additionally, a N.Y.S. Child Abuse Registry clearance is necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of clients.

Skills/Abilities:

  • The ability to think creatively and solve problems is a crucial skill for this role.
  • Effective negotiation skills will be beneficial in managing program requirements and resources.

Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:

  • The position requires mobility to drive to client's homes and/or community facilities, which may not meet federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals. This flexibility is essential to ensure effective client engagement and support.
