Responsibilities

The Family Advocate will help teach, model and coach specific patterns of behavior by teaching and coaching basic living and parenting skills to parents whose children have been identified as risk for or placed in foster care. Implement as outlined in the purpose of services, home safety, increased nurturance appropriate discipline, child development household management health nutrition and supportive social network. Provide transportation on a limited basis as it relates to the purpose of service. Maintain guidelines established by the funding sources and Catholic Charities policies and procedures.

 

This Position is Fulltime at 35 Hours a Week. Pay for this Position is $19.00 Per Hour

Qualifications

Educational Level:

  •  Undergrads/first year graduate in social work, human services, child and family studies.

 

Licenses/Certificate/Clearances:

  • Child abuse clearance.
  • NYS Drivers License.
  • Insured & Inspected Vehicle.

 

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills, adaptable, knowledge of child development and engagement.

 

Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:  Services provided in the home setting; hygiene issues, environmental concerns, poor living conditions, minimal supplies and materials
