The Peer Recovery Coach (PRC) plays a vital role in Catholic Charities of Onondaga County (CCOC), primarily based at the Housing Services Center. The PRC responds promptly to service requests from various CCOC programs and works closely with the Program Manager to triage referrals and maintain a caseload of 12 clients, known as journeyers, who are facing challenges related to opioid/substance use and mental health disorders. Through regular meetings, the PRC supports journeyers in developing their personal recovery and wellness goals, while also exploring opportunities in areas such as health, employment, education, life skills, and spirituality. The PRC actively participates in supervision sessions, attends staff meetings and clinical supervisions, and maintains accurate documentation. Building relationships and fostering inclusivity are key aspects of the role, as the PRC respects and appreciates the diverse cultural backgrounds and practices of clients and stakeholders. Additionally, the PRC serves as a knowledgeable resource, ensuring professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to guidelines and policies established by CCOC and its funding sources.
