The Accountant will perform financial reporting functions for Catholic Charities of Onondaga County and/or other agencies that we serve. Perform general ledger accounting and reporting tasks for assigned programs. This includes but is not limited to accurately classifying cash disbursements and cash receipts, preparing journal entries and preparing and/or reviewing balance sheet reconciliations. Prepare and/or review vouchers/claims and fiscal reports for funding sources. Monitor colleaction of cash against claims submitted to funding sources. Collaborate with programmatic personnel and funders to prepare contract budgets, analyze budget-versus-actual results, and re-allocate expenses when needed. Understand and adhere to reporting requirements of Catholic Charities, funders, and regulatory agencies. Assist in regular audits of agency’s fiscal records. Contribute to the department’s commitment to continuous improvement. Such initiatives include but are not limited to (i) migration to a new, cloud-based accounting platform, (ii) implementing a new agency credit card platform, and (iii) increased digitization of workflows. Serve as backup for various accounting tasks. Maintain communication with external and internal stakeholders (example: funders, financial institutions, clients, employees, auditors). Supervise 1-2 team members. Provide technical training and assist with their professional development. Hold regular supervision meetings. Provide both “real time” feedback and annual performance reviews. Mentor and motivate staff, assisting them in meeting deadlines and setting and achieving goals.
This position pays $30.00 per hour. 35 hours a week, 100% on-site.
