Responsibilities

The Family Advocacy Therapists position is dedicated to providing compassionate and professional support to refugees in need. The Family Advocacy Therapists will play a vital role in delivering effective psychotherapy services to participants, adhering to treatment plans to address their unique mental health challenges. While offering counseling and case management in homes, offices and community settings, you will create a safe,comfortable environment for clients to share their experiences and make positive gains. While collaborating with other service providers, you will ensure a comprehensive approach to healing and growth, making referrals when additional support is required. The Family Advocacy Therapists will adhere to program mandates, maintain client confidentiality, complete thorough service documentation, and effectively attend to an assigned caseload to ensure personalized care. The Family Advocacy Therapists will commit to attending program activities, comply with established guidelines, and contribute to the program's success in helping families stabilize and further their wellbeing. Maintain guidelines established by the funding sources and Catholic Charities of Onondaga County policies and procedures.

 

This is a Full Time Position at 35 Hours a Week. Pay For This Position is $28.00 an Hour

 

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Required at Entry:

  •  Bachelor's degree in Social Work, mental health or related field required, and up to two (2) years of experience providing mental health services to adults, children and/or families.
  •  Engaged in the final year of study of a Master's degree in Marriage & Family Therapy, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or Counseling required.
  •  Pursue Professional/Provisional license or permit in Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, or Mental Health Counseling within 30 days of master’s completion certification.
  • Provide written confirmation of both successful graduation from mental health master’s program and application for licensure/practice permit. Proactive engagement of required licensure requirements thereafter.

Licenses/Certificate/Clearances:

  • Valid N.Y.S. Drivers License,
  • Registered and Insured Vehicle
  • Clearance from N.Y.S. Child Abuse Registry.
  • Clearance from the Office of Mental Health.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Basic computer skills;
  • Specialized training or coursework related to position.

Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings at client’s homes and/or community facilities which may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals.
  • Mobility sufficient to work in an office environment. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment, including machines.
