Responsibilities

 Reporting to and under the direct supervision of the Shelter Manager, the Program Coordinator will assist with broadening and monitoring a range of shelter services with an emphasis on developing services specific to hospitality clients. Support Manager in staff meetings, record keeping and meeting funding contract requirements. Assist in the general supervision and routine operation of the shelter, under direction of the Shelter Manager. Provide intermediate to advance administrative and technical support to shelter staff to ensure success of new program initiatives. Act as professional role model for staff and residents Under the direction of the Program Manager, act as a team leader with temporary or ongoing supervisory responsibilities. Maintain program records and guidelines established by the funding sources and Catholic Charities of Onondaga County policies and procedures. Work collaboratively with the Program Manager to organize and update all information and protocols pertaining to the operation of the shelter. Make recommendations in regards to client system implementation to address client needs. Independently handle day to day work assignments and exercise frontline decision making. Function as a backup for the Shelter Manager. This includes being on call and working evening and weekend hours as required.

 

 

This Is a Full Time Position at 35 Hours a Week. Pay For This Position is $24.00 Per Hour

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Required at Entry:

  • A Bachelor degree with up to three (3) years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Knowledge of local Human Service delivery system, including public benefit programs and experience working with low-income and/or homeless individuals is preferred.

Licenses/Certificate/Clearances:

  • Valid NYS Driver’s license,
  • Registered and Insured Vehicle
  • State Central Registry Clearance, 

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to utilize electronic database system.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook and MS Office.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Oral and written communication skills.

Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings at client’s homes and/or community facilities, which may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals.
