Responsibilities

As the Refugee Employment Specialist, your primary responsibilities encompass providing ongoing support to address barriers to employment throughout the program period. You will maintain weekly contact with active participants, assessing and evaluating the psycho-social factors that contribute to their situation in order to determine their capabilities. Conducting needs assessments and identifying resources to promote participants' interpersonal insight and professional development will be key aspects of your role. Monitoring clients' progress, addressing barriers to employment as necessary, and referring clients to community resources and other organizations are crucial tasks. Additionally, networking with community service providers, completing necessary reporting forms for government agencies and funding sources, and maintaining appropriate communication with job developers and other funding sources are important components of your position.

 

 

This Positions Pays $22.00 Per Hour

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Required at Entry:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services related field.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with vulnerable individuals.
  • Alternatively, a combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.

Licenses/Certificates/Clearances:

  • Valid N.Y.S. Driver's License.
  • Registered and insured vehicle.
  • N.Y.S. Child Abuse Registry clearance.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word.

Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings at clients' homes and/or community facilities that may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to work with children/adults in a challenging and active environment.

Required Trainings:

  • VIRTUS.
  • Corporate Compliance.
  • Defensive Driving.
  • Mandated Reporter.
